Beyoncé Awards Eight HBCU Students With Scholarships

According to the news outlet, each student will receive $25,000 towards their post-secondary education for the 2018-2019 school year. The initiative was created under her BeyGOOD foundation. Amongst those who received scholarships include Kameron Willis from Morehouse College, Cletus Emokpae from Grambling State University, Dartisha Mosley from Fisk University, Jordan Davis of Texas Southern University, Allana J. Barefield from Xavier University, Erin Evans of Wilberforce University, Caleb Washington from Tuskegee University, and Demetrius Weaver who attends Bethune-Cookman University. All the recipients were chosen by committees from the different educational institutions.

“We salute the rich legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities,” Ivy McGregor, Director of Philanthropy and Corporate Relations at Parkwood Entertainment, said in a statement. “We honor all institutions of higher learning for maintaining culture and creating environments for optimal learning which expands dreams and the seas of possibilities for students.”

In April, the BeyGOOD organization announced it’s partnership with Google for the creation of the scholarships. Kudos to Bey for not only displaying #BlackExcellence but using her platform and resources to empower others to do the same.
