Conway, SC — The SHB International Hair Academy School of Cosmetology is open and accepting students who are interested in getting the training required to embark on a lucrative career in Cosmetology. The facility is the first African-American owned beauty school in Horry County.
The campus is located at 1403 Third Avenue, Conway, South Carolina. The SHB Hair International Hair Academy offers the highest level of training in Cosmetology, Nail Technician and Esthetics. The owner of the SHB International Hair Academy School of Technology, Shaneka Hammond Brown, is offering $18,000 in scholarships to the first 20 students who are approved for enrollment. About Shaneka Hammond Brown
Shaneka Hammond Brown, also known as SHB started her cosmetology career in the kitchen of her parents’ home in Kingstree, South Carolina, in the 1990s. She considered various other career paths, but realized cosmetology was her passion and decided to obtain her cosmetologist license to advance in the industry. Upon receiving her license, SHB polished her skills renting booth spaces from several salon owners through the years.
She opened the doors to her first salon in 2006, called Hollywood Exclusive Hair Salon, in Conway, SC. In 2016, she expanded her business and opened a new 9,000 square feet salon, SHB International Hair Studio. Shaneka has a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism, and says that God directed her to open SHB International Hair Academy in 2019 located in downtown Conway, SHB has more than 20 years of experience in the hair industry.
She created the SHB International Hair Show & Expo, LLC, which is a two- day exhibition providing a stage for students and professionals to teach, showcase their talents and network. She’s also the founder of the “SHB Stylists’ and Barber’s Ball,” which was designed to celebrate and recognized stylists and barbers for their craft in the industry. Additionally, SHB has a hair product line, “SHB Hair 1 on 1.” The product line consists of shampoo, conditioner, and oil sheen.
SHB’s professional résumé also includes a highly respected Motivational/Educational Speaker for Cosmetologist and others in the hair industry, an active member of the Advisory Committee Board of Horry Georgetown Technical College for Cosmetologist, an Educator at the Bronner Brother’s Atlanta Hair Show and a mentor for many stylists.
